About the book: When two little Pigs return to their homes from a walk in the woods they find Bear and Moose have moved in. The only problem is Bear and Moose are far too big for the Pigs’ little dens and they collapse! The friends sit together and mull over how to solve the problem. Moose all of a sudden has a great idea- phone the Beavers and ask them to help build a new house in which they can all live together! The Beavers are happy to help in return for some peanut butter sandwiches. This is a lovely tale about overcoming a problem through friendship and teamwork.
Reasons for selection: Inga Moore’s charming and comforting classic style illustrations are are packed with expressive characters and detail that will generate lots of talk. Children will recognise characters from traditional stories but this is not a retelling or a fractured story, rather a tale with a hint of a familiar fairy tale world. Den building and forests make this an obvious choice for schools that have a forest school. While themes of friendship and teamwork celebrate the positive attributes that are important to success in school and the wider world.
