50 Great Books: fiction for 7 - 9 years (Set B)

£300 Save £60.50

The Reading Journey is Just Imagine's programme for supporting independent reading.

The Reading Journey is designed specifically to ensure class book corners and reading areas are stocked with the very best books to ensure children encounter quality literature written by the best writers with art work from the best illustrators.

The books in The Reading Journey are selected by a panel of literacy experts and class teachers convened by Just Imagine Director, Nikki Gamble, author of Exploring Children's Literature and co-author of Guiding Readers: layers of meaning.

A dedicated website was launched in April 2018. Accompanying resources for these packs of books are available for free download including posters, reading passports and teacher produced materials.

The essential fiction set creates a rich base for children's reading, comprising classic and modern classics, as well as some more recently published books which have been included due to their potential for longevity.

Essential fiction is available either as a full set of 100 books or as half sets of 50 books per set.

The essential fiction set is most suitable for schools:

  • looking to set up new reading areas in classrooms and across the school
  • needing to refresh old and tired book stock with the most essential books
  • wanting to improve the quality of literature available to children

For schools well-stocked with the essential books on this list, we recommend the themed packs which are designed to encourage peer-to-peer recommendation.
